ThermoVacuum Tests

Thermal Vacuum Setup

Components should be simulated in an extreme condition to be applicable for space applications. All satellite components need to be examined in thermal vacuum chamber under the conditions found in the space. BEAMIDE offers the possibility to carry out experiments required for satellite components under the extreme conditions. Thermal chamber can provide the desired temperature while HiCube vacuum pump system reduces the pressure identical to space conditions. Two vacuum chamber systems are currently available for experiments: rectangular and cylindrical. All the tests on satellite components are done under the standards needed for space applications(e.g., ECSS/ESA).

Thermal Chamber
The BINDER MKFT 720 is the thermal chamber available at BEAMIDE’s laboratory for space simulations. Temperature ranges from -70°C to 180°C, adjustable for providing the cycles, and its time can be varied for thermal and vacuum testing. Rapid cooling and warming makes it possible to perform standard climate tests with this chamber. Samples can be placed in the vacuum box or cylinder system and their temperatures can be monitored by implemented thermocouples. The pressure and the temperatures inside the vacuum system are visualized by LabVIEW.
