MRADSIM-Converter: A new software for STEP to GDML conversion

We are thrilled to announce the publication of the first MRADSIM paper on Computer Physics Communications, which covers the free version of MRADSIM-Converter. The paper discusses the importance of radiation effects analysis in harsh environments and the use of Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software for engineering instrument designs. However, Geant4-based Monte Carlo codes are not compatible with CAD Standard for The Exchange of Product data (STEP) format, which led to the development of MRADSIM-Converter.

MRADSIM-Converter is a user-friendly software that converts CAD designs to Geometry Description Markup Language (GDML) format, which is readable by Geant4-based Monte Carlo codes. It provides higher speed for importing CAD geometries of arbitrary size and complexity with a user-friendly interface for modifying volume properties. The validation of MRADSIM-Converter with two different converters has confirmed its efficiency and effectiveness in converting CAD designs to GDML format for radiation simulation using Geant4.

Stay tuned for further updates and enhancements to MRADSIM-Converter as we continue to improve our radiation simulation solutions.
